Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking a technically capable Chemical Operator for one of our top clients in Cincinnati, OH
This is a third shift job with competitive compensation, comprising the following hours: 6.00 pm to 6.30 am Monday through Friday.
The chemical operator is expected to be able to excel in a dynamic environment, adapt rapidly, make decisions quickly, possess self-confidence and be lifelong learners.
The operator will perform all work activities in a team environment following operating disciplines, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties related to the function.
Must have the physical ability to climb ladders and stairs, bolt flanges, operate valves, and similar equipment as a normal part of the job.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as air purifying respirators. Individuals will use troubleshooting skills to resolve deviations and problems, within the process and accurately complete all required paperwork.
The operator must effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve all process issues.
Scope:
The operator will be responsible for:
Safely starting up, operating and shutting down bench, mini-plant, and pilot plant process equipment.
Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, flow rates and transfer of products.
Identifying of equipment requiring maintenance
Ensuring necessary process data are properly recorded through a data logger or other means.
Constructing experimental or production equipment, such as pipefitting, light carpentry, and light instrumentation.
Safely handling chemicals including weighing, sampling and waste materials.
Following Standard Operating Procedures.
Preparing and running routine analytical sample analyses.
Maintaining a safe and clean work area.
Actively participating in company safety programs.
Other tasks related to the production of specialty chemicals.
Required Skills:
Experience with operation of chemical or petroleum manufacturing equipment. Pumps, valves, reactors, wiped film evaporators, distillation columns, vacuum pumps, boilers, chillers, etc.
Mechanical aptitude. Skills in crafts of pipefitting, carpentry, and instrumentation, plumbing, welding, or machining are a plus.
Familiarity with common office software such as spreadsheets and word documents.
Familiarity with computer-controlled process systems.
Highly motivated and self-starting.
Able to work with others in a team environment.
Able to follow a written procedure for execution of relevant tasks.
Other Job Details:
College chemistry hours are a plus
This is an hourly position
The Chemical Operator will report to the Director of Process Engineering
The job will require shift work, including possible nights and weekends
Overtime may be required
