Job DescriptionnMount de Sales Academy, located in Catonsville, MD has an opening for a Custodian. The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and common maintenance of the grounds and buildings comprising Mount de Sales Academy campus. This is an hourly position that reports to the Facilities Director. Job Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities Perform recurring tasks to ensure that school buildings are maintained in a clean, orderly manner: mop/vacuum floors, clean/disinfect bathrooms; replace lights; maintain furniture Perform floor care tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, waxing, stripping and vacuuming as needed Collect and properly dispose of trash and garbage as needed Replace filters and light bulbs as needed Dust and empty trash as needed Periodically wash windows, polish brass fixtures, etc. to maintain an orderly environment Maintain supplies and replenish as needed (e.g. paper towels in bathrooms, light bulbs, etc.) Maintain and care for tools and equipment used for maintenance. Provide general assistance as needed: set up and break down chairs and tables as requested; haul and move items; pick up parts or other equipment. Perform any duties and light maintenance/custodial tasks as requested. Skills/ Attributes Commitment to the mission and vision of Catholic education in general and Mount de Sales Academy in particular. Must be able to lift and safely operate tools and machinery, such as snow blowers, vacuum cleaners, buffers, etc. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb and stoop for extended periods of time nnJob Requirementsn High School diploma or equivalent. Prior work experience in, implementing comprehensive cleaning plan for facilities, and engaging in full range of cleaning duties as described above. Experience in minor repair work a plus. Able to workday and/or evening hours. Must have basic knowledge of cleaning, maintenance and repair procedures for a commercial building. Ability to perform required and requested tasks with accuracy, timeliness, and willingness Ability to maintain confidentiality Must be available for on-call emergencies Must have knowledge of cleaning procedures and how to operate cleaning equipment and materials (e.g. how to use vacuum cleaner, chemicals for sanitizing bathrooms, etc.) Ability to use common hand tools.
